Some Places I've Been
(in chronological order)...
[ main ]1. Howell, NJ4. Chicago, IL
Grew up in Howell, NJ, in a medium-sized, 1960's-built, suburbanite dwelling.
I found it to be a pleasant town, that only recently has begun to feel the pressures
of being 65 miles away from New York City. It has it's share of horse farms and
other wide open preserves, but a number of developments have creeped in and
expanded Howell quite a bit.2. New York City, NY3. Melbourne Beach, FL
Went on a number of family trips in my adolescence travelling to see relatives here,
and attended Columbia University, in the upper part of Manhattan.
Spent nearly two weeks here training for Columbia's rowing team. Beautiful area,
nice water, lovely sunsets. I can say this now that I'm not surrounded by 25 other
crew guys. :)
It was actually Batavia, IL that I spent my summer doing particle physics
research (home of Fermi National Laboratories!). Chicago was daunting,
and I don't know that I've actually figured out how to get around.5. Boston, MA8. Las Vegas, NV
There is something special about Boston. It's uncanny. I don't know if I was
meant to live here - but some very strange events took place during a few short
stays in Boston. It's also a lovely city.6. Austin, TX7. Other Texas Cities
Where I make my current home. Austin is beautiful... if not hot in the summertime.
I've visited San Antonio and Dallas for short periods of time - don't yet feel as though I know these areas. Supposedly San Antonio has some very beautiful and romantic areas (the riverwalk); Dallas is very metropolitan - reminds me of NYC.
mini-Company vacation in September '99. A very interesting city - but one that sadly
is rather fake. I don't know if anything there is genuine. When we went, we stayed in
this pyramid shaped building, the name of which I forget at this moment. Overall, very
cool trip.9. Bahamas, Is.10. Detroit, MI
10th anniversary, company vacation in December '99. Extravagant - beautiful
shores, lovely sunrises. Definitely a travel spot to visit again.
Over the past three years, I have occasionally travelled here for work.
The suburbs are nice, but the roads and the winter weather leave much to be desired.11. Niagara Falls
One of the true wonders of the world. One would also wonder
why I'd choose to skate near it in spandex shorts in 30 degree weather.
