Skating continues to go well. I participated in an indoor and outdoor skate meet over this past Thanksgiving weekend. There were 4-5 other skaters in my division, and I was schooled in my indoor events. I fared a bit better on the outdoors, coming in 3rd in the 5000 meter, but I have a long way to go before my skating ability is where I want it to be.
Overall in the indoor competition, our Austin Texas Speed Team took second with about 330 total points - a large number of our younger skaters brought home trophies, and I believe the event was a very positive experience. It was great to see such amazing skating... Ten to eleven members of the French National Team were present, and they were awesome. Chad Hendrick, Ryan Cox, Jordan Malone, Chad Gross, and other members from Team Hyper, Team Mogema, Team Bont, etc., put out impressive performances as well. Now I know what it looks like to be elite. And now I shall continue to work on getting myself there.
